Sano Paila works at the grassroots level to address challenges that undermine community well-being and peace. We invest in the potential of young people through comprehensive programs addressing substance abuse, crime prevention, conflict resolution, peacebuilding and positive youth development.

Our programs provide access to rehabilitation, skills training, and leadership opportunities, empowering youth to build healthy, productive lives and contribute to safer, more resilient communities. Furthermore, Sano Paila addresses social distrust and conflict by organizing roundtables, educational programs, and skills trainings, reaching thousands of individuals with conflict mitigation and problem-solving skills.

Action Against Adiction & Crime

Action Against Adiction & Crime

Launched in 2007, Sano Paila's flagship program, Action Against Addiction & Crime (AAC), is a community-based initiative serving youth and others affected by substance abuse and criminal behavior in Madhesh Province, including cross-border districts where these issues are particularly severe. Through residential treatment and rehabilitation centers, known as the School of Recovery and Restoration  (SRR), Sano Paila provides awareness, treatment, rehabilitation, counseling, and support services, including the promotion of crime prevention behaviors among at-risk youth. The SRR, run by former drug users and ex-convicts, is one of Nepal's pioneering community-based rehabilitation centers. The program has successfully reformed over 3,500 individuals with histories of substance abuse and criminal behavior. Read More

Youth Community Services Center

The Youth Community Services Centre  (YCSC), a Sano Paila youth forum, facilitates connections between youth and the community, providing a credible, effective, and rewarding avenue for youth community service and the development of youth potential. We have trained and mobilized over 1,000 youth volunteers through 204 workshops, equipping them with the skills and opportunities to become catalysts for change in their communities. Nepal Peacebuilding Initiative (NPI)

From 2010 to 2017, in partnership with the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, University of San Diego, Sano Paila addressed social distrust, political discord and conflict. It organized over 30 roundtables, educational programs, and skills trainings, reaching over 2,600 individuals in conflict mitigation, resolution and problem-solving. Read More
